2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom teased ahead of late July debut

The next-generation Rolls-Royce Phantom has been teased ahead of its debut on July 27, London time.

The reveal of the new Phantom will kick off The Great Eight Phantoms event. The show at Mayfair in the UK's capital will not only feature the next-generation vehicle, but also classic examples from the Phantom's past.

The new luxury sedan will be regarded as the eighth-generation Phantom, and will continue the nameplate that made its debut in 1925 on a limousine with a 7.7-litre straight-six engine.

Beneath its opulent finery, the new Phantom will be the first Rolls-Royce to use the brand's new aluminium architecture. This should see the vehicle lose a significant number of kilograms from the seventh-generation model, which went out of production at the end of 2016.

Last week we confirmed the new Phantom will be available with four-wheel steering.

As spy photos have shown, despite the new platform, the next-generation Phantom will feature an evolutionary design.

On top of the latest safety features, spy pictures have revealed the new car will come with a customisable digital instrumental display, and an improved infotainment and navigation experience.

Although the new Phantom isn't too far away from its launch, examples of the car aren't expected to arrive down under until 2018.
