2017 Fiat 500L facelift unveiled

The facelifted Fiat 500L has been unveiled, and it's claimed that 40 per cent of its components are new.

Visually, the updated 500L is distinguished by new headlight internals with LED driving lights. The front and rear bumpers have also been restyled, with the lower air intakes given a wider design and extra lashings of bright work.

For the revised 500L, there are three basic models: the Urban, the off-roader-styled Cross, and the more capacious Wagon.

As before, all 500L variants ride on the same 2610mm wheelbase. The Urban and Cross versions are 4240mm and 4280mm long respectively, and can seat up to five people.

The Wagon variant, formerly known as Living, features a lengthened section aft of the C-pillar. This allows for an extra row of seats, and a total capacity of seven people.

In addition to 25mm of extra ground clearance, the 500L Cross also features a more rugged-looking bumper design, wheel arch extensions, and front and rear skid plates.

Depending on the model, the updated 500L is available with autonomous braking under 30km/h, improved interior ambient lighting, and a 7.0-inch uConnect infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.

Turbo-diesel options include 70kW 1.3-litre and a 88kW 1.6-litre four-cylinder motors.
