2016 Tesla Model S, Model X recalled for parking brake fix

Tesla Motors Australia has issued a recall for 324 examples of its 2016 Model S and Model X vehicles, built between February and October 2016, over concerns of a faulty gear in the parking brake.

If the gear cracks before the electric park brake is engaged, the park brake caliper may not hold to its full potential.

The parking brake could also be difficult to release, with both issues becoming a danger to the vehicle's occupants and other road users.

Recalled Model S and Model X units were produced from 22 February 2016 through 7 October 2016. A VIN list for these vehicles can be viewed here.

Tesla has confirmed the standard braking system is not affected by this recall.

If you own an affected vehicle, you will be contacted by Tesla with details on the replacement of the parking brake.
