2018 Haval H9 revealed, Australian debut later this year

The updated 2018 Haval H9 has been revealed this week ahead of an Australian launch later this year, with the company claiming local feedback and media coverage has influenced a significant amount of the changes.

Headline changes include a reworked version of the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which now develops 180kW of power and 350Nm of torque, up 20kW and 36Nm respectively.

Also new is the eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, which replaces the outgoing model's six speeder. With these changes the Chinese SUV company claims acceleration from 0-100km/h has improved by 20 per cent, and 10 per cent better fuel efficiency - dropping from 12.1L/100km to 11.0L/100km.

Other changes include a new front bumper design, a new taller grille, redesigned fog-light units, new 18-inch alloy wheels, along with the addition of blind spot monitoring and lane departure warning as standard equipment across the range - no AEB or adaptive cruise control to be seen, however.

Inside, the H9 picks up a new instrument panel with digital speedo - a feature added in response to customer feedback - along with a redesigned centre console and Audi-esque T-bar shift lever.

A panoramic sunroof has also been added to the high-spec Lux grade.

Scheduled to arrive locally in the fourth quarter of this year, final pricing and specifications for the 2018 Haval H9 range will be confirmed closer to launch.

Currently, the range starts at $46,490 for the entry-level Premium and climbs to $50,990 for the flagship Lux.
