I have a 1996 vs commodore with 138,000 km on the odo. I am the second owner and the records show it has been serviced since new ie oil changes. It has no power steer leaks and no oil leaks except for slight weeping around the rear main. Are vs’s or models at the end of the series better in this regard or do people have problems with this model as well, am I just lucky and own a one off? It really makes me wonder about buying a later model.

Lloyd,
mate to be honest i dont know anyone who has not had trouble with their VS. on of the main problems that comes to my attention is continual electrical dramas and plastic nobs and buttons that break.
yes power steering squeeling etc was also common.
i know people who have had a 1996 and 1999 mod VS and other models in between and they all seemed as bad as each other $$$$$$$$$

I have a 97′ VS Series II berlina & yep, had to have the rear main seals replaced recently, also yep the power steering makes a groaning sound when you turn the wheel allthough this is greatly reduced when you smother the thing in grease however that only lasts for a few weeks before you have to do it again.

I just took delivery of my new 08/07 built Crewman S. I noticed on some occations when turning I hear a clunk. And my glove box isn’t alligned properly.
When I asked the dealer they told me that they thats the way they are!
Could anyone else that own a VZ crewman tell me any different?

I also have the same problem with my Glove Box in the Crewman S. I also placed in a complaint about the fuel cap cover, and that it has two problems:-
1. That it did not align properly and moved around.
2. Did not seal properly and if closed too hard, it would actually over close, going past the seal and I have to use my key or something simliar to open it.
Also I have had a problem with the bushes, in the rear suspension. They squeak constantly.
Let me know what you think
Cheers

I owned a VR ute. I traded it in on a Kia.
Worst thing I ever did.
Yes, groaning power steering pump..so did my Dad’s HQ Premier.
Plastic fuel filler flap didn’t fit and used to sag but the crappy Kia I’ve got sometimes the door doesn’t open, remote release, pull toggle, nothing happens!
Misaligned glove box lid…you could post a letter in my Kia…
And you know what, my Kia was built 9 years after my 93 Holden!
