2010-16 Audi Q5 recalled for sunroof fix

Audi Australia has issued a recall for 9098 examples of its 2010 to 2016 Q5 SUVs over concerns vehicles fitted with a panoramic sunroof could spring a water leak and activate the curtain airbag.

The German luxury marque reports the foam adjacent to the gas generator of the curtain airbag can become wet if moisture accumulates over time.

If the condition occurs, this can cause corrosion of the gas generator and subsequently burst the pressure cylinder of the curtain airbag.

Affected Q5s were manufactured from May 2010 through August 2016. The VIN numbers for these vehicles can be viewed here.

Owners of the recalled SUVs will be contacted directly by Audi Australia, and are advised to contact their local dealer to arrange for the inspection and repair of their vehicle.
