2003 BMW X5 Warranty Complaint

2003 BMW X5

Name: Shane Holmes
Car Make: BMW
Car Model: X5 4WD 4.4-litre V8 petrol
Year of Manufacture: 2003

Warranty Complaint:

The Auto Transmission completely disintegrated and the vehicle is inoperable at 65,000kms. I understand the Statutory Warranty is 36 mths and/or 60,000kms but for a vehicle that cost me $127k and i was the first owner and the car has never been off road nor been mistreated and the service history is up to date i am shocked and dismayed at the lack of any GOODWILL by BMW Aust.

This surprises me a little. I have some problems with my 3 series just out of warranty and they fixed it. Although overall it was not a reliable car so perhaps they have decided to be more strict these days due to the cost of all these just out of warranty fixes.

that’s what you get for buying a merc wannabee.

Phil surprises me to ,not that I have ever had that much go wrong with any of the Beemers I have owned. Perhaps some strong letters to BMW Australia may have helped explaining the situation ? Did you check with other BMW forums world wide to see if its a fault ,may have helped your case if you could .

As far as Luis statement , mate why would BMW want to make a boring MERC wannabe? The current X5 in an article I read recently came out on tops of the Merc and the Audi Q7 ! I guess if your old Mercs are cool .

I am doing research on X5 reliability coz I intend to buy a My05/06. Overall, the words from various forums around the world are rather disappointing. Not a reliable car and never buy private. buy from a dealer with extended warranty. it will save you huge.
