Honda Accord gets more safety features, new pricing in 2010

By Matt Brogan |

Honda’s 2010 Accord will gain curtain airbags across the entire model range.

Already standard on the Accord VTi-L and V6L models, curtain airbags are now standard in the entry level Accord VTi.

The extra airbags join Accord’s already impressive list of standard safety equipment that includes ABS, EBA and EBD; ESC; dual front and side airbags; and Honda’s ACE body structure.

The 2010 Honda Accord also receives a number of enhanced technology-based features including a key operated feature for the windows and sunroof (VTi-L and V6L models only), which opens them before you need to turn on the engine. There have also been changes to the dash fascia with revised air-conditioning controls for improved usability.

Accord’s powerplants remain unchanged with the choice of a 2.4-litre (133kW) four-cylinder or a 3.5-litre (202kW) V6 with Variable Cylinder Management (VCM), depending on model variant.

Pricing for the 2010 Honda Accord is as follows:

  • Honda Accord VTi – $32,490*
  • Honda Accord VTi-L – $38,990*
  • Honda Accord V6 Luxury – $49,990*

*Pricing is a guide as recommended to us by the manufacturer.

  • BJH #1

A competitor to the Focus and Cerato and Lancer and Superb – this one has the edge in some areas but looks a bit pricey. It doesn’t actually seem to have many airbags as I see no knee airbags listed. So thats disappointing. The Skoda Superb has knee airbags and if I had to choose I would pick the Skoda because of this.

    • Innova

Wow, Accord is Focus, Cerato and Lancer’s competitor. Are you mad?

    • Deco

      I believe he is.

    • Patriot

BJH is right in that no one in their right mind will buy a Jap deathtrap over a far superior Euro car (Skoda).

    • Juan

      go back to your gutter

    • Shak

whatever you are on should be nothched up to 15. Are you mad, the focus, Lancer and Cerato are small cars, this is a large car and the Superb is bordering on Full sized. Obviously you dont know much about cars.

  • JEKYL & HYDE

$1500 increase(when everything else is going down) for curtin airbags and a key that lets the windows down…yawn…no wonder their sales have fallen off a cliff…

    • C

Don’t know where the $1,500 increase came from. Haven’t they always been at $32,490 RRP since release?

      • Shak

you are correct, the prices havent gone up.

  • MisterTwo

My 2004 V6 Accord allows the windows to be opened from the remote key. Not exactly new technology.

    • Aleks

My 2002 C-Class has this option lol Good old Japanese always behind Europe :P Then again my C-Class cost two Honda accords when it was new.

      • mb1

My 21 year old MB E Class had this, closing sunroof at the same time too

  • henry

might as well get an SUV for the same price….

    • Redback

      Indeed.

Will Sir be requiring the accessory package of “belligerent attitude, arm out the window and appalling driving skills” with that vehicle, or are you already an SUV owner?

  • Callous Aussie

I am a big fan of recent Honda offerings. I think this is a decent vehicle, but I also think you’d be stark raving mad to buy it over the Euro.

    • mark

all they need to do is put the 3.5 litre engine in the euro…… but wont happen

      • Jake02

Apart from the US-spec Acura TSX which you can get the optional 3.5L V6…

  • mmmmmmmmmm

yet again honda is one of the last to add BASIC safety features to their car.
I couldn’t believe the curtain airbags could not be optioned.
They may have been an automotive leader 20 years ago, but now they are boring toyota clones.
They also seem to be the only manufacturer that can move their production to Thailand and increase the cost of their cars.

    • Patriot

So true, yet another case of how unsafe and unreliable Jap cars really are. These no good people at Honda and Toyota (and their kind) only care about making money and don’t give a second thought about the safety of the blind fools who buy them.

Well thankfully, now Honda is known as a rubbish brand that has gotten way past its used by date. Time we all help put it out of business for good I say! Our world would be better for it!

      • Al Juraj

It needs an exterior redesign, at least at the back (badly) and, ironically, a price cut.

  • Yianni

Honda putting up prices again? I wish you luck Honda!

The Accord was going for $29.490 drive away in early 2009 and now it’s going to cost around $35.000 drive away. Has Honda lost the plot? This is a Thai built car after all and not Japanese built like the Euro.

So many better and cheaper alternatives out there.

  • mike

I got a v6 when it was was cheaper than the vti-L. I can’t believe the price increases in such a short time when everyone else is dropping prices. Honda really have lost the plot and are just too far behind the ball in standard features, etc
