Honda Civic GX, America’s Greenest Car

The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) recognised four Hondas for being among the "greenest vehicles of 2010". The natural gas Civic GX earned the title of America's greenest vehicle for the seventh consecutive year.

In the annual "Green Book Online" (available at www.greenercars.org), the natural gas powered Civic GX came in at first place with almost zero emissions. The Civic Hybrid, Insight Hybrid, and Fit ( known as the Jazz in Australia) were also on ACEEE's 12 most environmentally responsible vehicles available to the public.
Honda has had a vehicle achieve number one for the past ten consecutive years and the ninth consecutive year that Honda has had three positions in the top 12.

“Honda’s rankings in the ACEEE study are emblematic of our commitment to lowering emissions and increasing fuel efficiency in all of our models,” said John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda. “Honda continues to set the standard for socially and environmentally responsible vehicles with products like the Insight and Civic GX.”

Using a single measure that incorporates fuel economy, health related pollution impacts and global warming emissions is how ACEEE rank the cars. All cars are given a "Green Score" that is used to rate the vehicle's environmental performance which includes the 12 'greenest' and 12 'meanest'.
First introduced in 1998 the Civic GX is built at Honda Manufacturing of Indiana and has the cleanest internal combustion vehicle certified by the U.S. EPA.
