2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee pricing and specs

Facelifted SUV range on sale now

The updated 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee range is now on sale in Australia, bringing a refreshed look and new equipment to the popular nameplate.

Kicking off at $47,500 for the entry-level Laredo V6 petrol with rear-wheel drive and climbing to $91,000 for the V8-powered SRT performance hero, prices for the Grand Cherokee have risen by a marginal $500-$1000 depending on variant.

Headlining the update is the addition of the off-road-focused Trailhawk model, which features a number of enhancements to strengthen the Grand Cherokee's already-substantial capabilities off the beaten track.

Starting at $74,000, the Trailhawk (above) is powered exclusively by the company's 184kW/570Nm 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The Trailhawk comes equipped with Jeep's Quadra-Drive II 4x4 system, along with an electronic limited-slip rear differential.

Additionally, the standard-fit Quadra-Lift air suspension increases ground clearance to 260mm - the most ever in a Grand Cherokee.

Other features exclusive to the Trailhawk variant include four underbody skid plates, red front tow hooks, a black bonnet decal, along with Neutral Grey mirrors and grille.

Distinguishing the facelifted Grand Cherokee range from the outgoing model are a new slimmer front grille, revised front fascia, new LED fog-lights, new alloy wheel designs ranging from 18- to 20-inches in diameter, and six new exterior colours.

Inside, the Grand Cherokee receives a new gear selector, acoustic windscreen and front door glass.

Also new for 2017 is the addition of active safety features including lane departure warning and a parking assistant as standard on the Overland and SRT, while optional on the Limited and Trailhawk. There's also a new rear trailer hitch camera view.

Under the bonnet, the 3.6-litre V6 petrol, 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel and 6.4-litre Hemi V8 continue to be offered, with the Pentastar V6 petrol getting a small increase in power to 213kW, while also seeing a four per cent improvement in fuel efficiency - partly thanks to the addition of an idle stop/start system.

Both the rear-wheel drive V6 petrol and all-wheel drive V6 turbo-diesel also receive an updated Gen II version of the eight-speed automatic transmission, which the company says improves shift quality, drivability and durability.

Like all new Jeep models, the Grand Cherokee range is offered with the company's 'There and Back Guarantee' five-year warranty, along with lifetime roadside assistance and capped-price servicing.
