2014-15 Hyundai Sonata recalled for sunroof fix

Hyundai has issued a recall for 755 of its 2014 and 2015 Sonata sedans over concerns models fitted with the panoramic sunroof could have a faulty wind deflector.

The Korean company reports affected vehicles may have a wind deflector that was not correctly secured during the manufacturing process and as a result could detach while the vehicle is in motion.

If the condition occurs, the deflector could become an obstacle for other road users, or even interfere with the glass roof panel causing the glass to shatter - a hazard for the vehicle's occupants - though no incidents have been reported in Australia.

Affected Sonata sedans were sold from 10 July 2014 through 13 August 2015. The VIN range for recalled units is KMHE341*BFA017122 ~ KMHE341*BFA163661.

Owners of these vehicles should visit their local Hyundai dealer to have their vehicle inspected and, if needed, repaired free of charge.
