2008-13 Suzuki Grand Vitara recalled for gear shift fix – UPDATE

Update - The original version of this article said automatic Grand Vitaras were affected by the recall. This is not the case, see article for details

Suzuki has issued a recall for its manual Grand Vitara SUVs sold between 2008 and 2013 over concerns the gear lever could fail.

The Japanese carmaker reports there is a possibility some vehicles may experience issues with the gear lever under "certain conditions", due to insufficient strength of the rear gear shift shaft.

If the condition occurs, Suzuki says the gear shift shaft could fail and operation of the shifter could become impossible.

Affected Grand Vitara models were sold from 1 May 2008 through 30 June 2013. The affected VIN list can be viewed here.

Owners of the recalled SUVs are advised to contact their local Suzuki dealer to arrange for the repair of their vehicle.
