Both you and maximark must have been hiding under the rock for a long time.

Commodore: The engine is made in USA. The heart of a car is its engine bubba.
Captiva: it's a korean car rebadged as holden. Australians don't make many cars because their blue collar workers / labors - in general, NOT all - are expensive, spoiled and don't work hard. Try smoke break a few times a day added by the fact they are protected by unions just like the US auto workers and that's what caused GM, Ford, Chrysler close to teh brink of collapsing.

NEED ADVICE
I am about to buy my first ever new car – a forester columbia and the dealer said no discount on the 33999 rrp. does that sound right? Can you usually get a better deal?

We just sold our captiva for a forester. The captiva was litterly falling to pieces; the front bumper had come loose, the stitching in the rear seats was coming undone, and the air conditioning didn't produce cold air... So we got it fixed under warranty and cut our losses and got a forester. It's much easier to drive, and more fun! (got the XT), the steering is awesome, and the outside looks very modern, but the only thing I don't like is the interior illumination.... Overall we've very happy with it, and we hope we have it for many years to come. This Columbia seems like good value, but I'm glad we got the xt.

To those who are saying that there's to many things going on at the Forester's front end, well take a look at the front end of the brand new Hyundai Tucson and compare it to the Forester's. There's definitely a lot of things going on with Tucson's one!

Patriot,

The Forester IS the best selling SUV in Australia (at least from January to November 2009). The Captiva was the best selling model for ONE MONTH.

As the saying goes, the worst blind is the one that doesn't want to see. But you wouldn't think anything apart from Holden exists, anyway. Maybe Fords, who knows.

Reminds me of the late 80's when Nissan brought out the Reebok Pulsar.

Thought this would have come out about 3 years ago when the Columbia Cycling team were using subie support vehicles, shows how slow the aussie market is.
