Video: Travis Pastrana sets new world record in Subaru Impreza STI

By Karl Peskett |

Launching his Subaru Impreza STI off the Long Beach pier in California, Travis Pastrana has set a new world record for the longest jump in a rally car. At 269 feet, he smashed the previous record set by driving superstar Ken Block, who previously jumped 171 feet.

“I was really nervous all day long, but when I got in the car I felt really calm,” said Pastrana. “It was definitely a lot more fun than any of my practice runs, and when I landed, man did that retaining wall come up fast!  I’m just happy the car and I didn’t end up in the drink. What a way to head into 2010!”

The jump was held at Red Bull’s New Year’s No Limits show. Check the video below for how it went. Oh, and watch the slide into the wall.

    Awesome. That is all.

  • Baddass

Cool vid and all, and sorry for being off-topic, but is all the news jumbled up on this website? I’m seeing new articles and stuff, but also some that I read ages ago.

  • Valet Dabess

didn’t he also jump out of a plane without a parachute?

  • Baddass

Yeah and also, the ‘More Car News’ section doesn’t even list the stories from that day of recalls. There was like 10 of them, and none of them are there.

  • Blue

Why not have a jump across Sydney harbour?

    • Underling

Because the toll is too high.
