Audi / Audi R8 Up In Flames
In a scene disturbingly familiar to an F430 we reported on earlier this year, an Audi R8 has mysteriously gone up in flames.

The cause of the fire is unclear, however the poster of these images on R8Talk.com speculates the following,
“The only explanation is that the guys who took the car for a test ride spilled some fuel. This fuel went down the down pipe and spilled over the hot exhaust when they started their test drive.“
According to AutoBlog, the Audi pictured was a test mule, and not a production model R8.

Unfortunately this is not the first occurrence of an Audi R8 test mule bursting into flames.

A few months ago a guy in a VE Calais stopped dead in front of me,after driving around him I realized there was smoke coming from under the bonnet. I jumped out of the car and screamed out ” Don’t open the bonnet ” to late his hand was lifting it up and the flames came to life.I slammed the bonnet shut pulled him away from the car and ran into the supermarket to get a fire extinguisher he called the Fire Brigade,we did our best to extinguish it but from him opening the bonnet the fire just spread to fast ,we just stood there and watched it burn.Moral of the story carry a fire extinguisher in your car and don’t open the bonnet if you have a fire
Yeah excellent advice BM – always carry a DRY CHEMICAL (that’s the red one with the white band) fire extinguisher in your vehicle, 1kg minimum. For the sake of $30 it’s a worthwhile investment.
