Kia to launch UVO voice-control technology for 2010

Using Microsoft Auto software, similar to that of Ford's 'Sync' voice-controlled infortainment service, UVO will be only the second such system offered in Northern American vehicles.

Fiat Auto Group also uses Microsoft technology to power its infotainment service, called Blue&Me, already available in Australia.

UVO will debut on an unnamed Kia vehicle sometime in 2010 and will feature as yet unnamed 'unique features' not found on the Ford or Fiat systems.

UVO uses Bluetooth wireless technology to provide drivers voice-controlled access to songs from music players such as iPods and enables them to make hands-free phone calls. The US market will also benefit from features such as access to real-time traffic, directions and other information.
