2017 Mercedes-AMG GT R to make Australian debut at Bathurst 12 Hour
The manic Mercedes-AMG GT R will make its first Australian appearance at the 2017 Bathurst 12 Hour Race next month.
After joining the supercar elite by lapping the famed Nurburgring circuit in 7 minutes and 10.9 seconds, the flagship Mercedes-AMG will take on Mount Panorama piloted by five-time DTM champion, Bathurst 12 Hour winner and AMG brand ambassador, Bernd Schneider.
When it's not powering around the circuit, the AMG GT R will be on display, finished in "Green Hell Magno" paint.
Under the bonnet is a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, developing 430kW of power and 700Nm of torque.
Mercedes-AMG claims a 0-100km/h sprint in 3.6 seconds, and a top whack of 318km/h.
Helping channel all that grunt to the road is active rear-wheel steering, a nine-stage adjustable traction control system and adjustable coil-over suspension.
Australians wanting to get their hands on an AMG GT R will have to wait until it goes on sale here in June.
