2017 Mini JCW Countryman revealed: Most powerful Mini ever, here in second quarter

The 2017 Mini John Cooper Works (JCW) Countryman has been revealed this week, with the hot SUV the most powerful model ever produced by the German-owned British brand.


Under the bonnet is a 170kW/350Nm (the latter available between 1450 and 4500rpm) turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine driving all-four wheels, propelling the biggest Mini from 0-100km/h in 6.5 seconds on its way to a top speed of 234km/h.

That makes the JCW Countryman 0.8 seconds faster to triple figures than the Cooper S Countryman ALL4 (all-wheel drive) and 0.5 seconds quicker than the outgoing JCW Countryman.

Meanwhile, claimed fuel consumption is rated at 7.4L/100km on the combined cycle.

Other features include sports suspension, Brembo brakes, 18-inch light alloy wheels (19-inch wheels optional), a JCW aero kit with unique larger front air intakes, a model-specific interior including JCW front sports seats, LED headlights with LED daytime-running lights, selectable driving modes, along with keyless entry and start.

The JCW Countryman also receives adjustable dampers and a sports exhaust system with chrome dual outlets.

 

Australia

Adam Davis, product communications manager for BMW Group Australia, told CarAdvice the Mini JCW Countryman is expected to land here late in the second quarter of 2017.

Expect final pricing and specifications for to be released closer to launch.
