The Irony is that GM was the first to use production turbocharged engines in their cars in 1962!
I am sure Mercedes has known the benefits even before Audi was around Simon, or perhaps you could teach them a thing or two?

I think the type of car, and its proportionate fuel consumption to driving behaviour is more the issue or controlling factor here than your tremendous driving abilities Car Fanatic.

Agree, nothing like the linear delivery, throttle response and sound of a good N/A engine for the senses.
The addictive turbo rush will not be as hard hitting with these low-blow set ups but the extra torque and efficiency of turbos have been common knowledge since the early 1900′s and going bigger in capacity these days is a cardinal sin because everyone has a temporary greenie ticket they would like to use!

Turbochargers are more efficient and with modern turbo compressor designs, lag is almost eliminated.

Top Gear? Get serious, it’s an entertaining show but Fifth gear is far superior as far as content is concerned.

Maybe if Clarkson or Hammond could drive like Tiff Needell instead of relying on The Stig, it would be a better show content wise.
