2017 Suzuki Swift front end caught undisguised

An undisguised next-generation Suzuki Swift hatch has surfaced online ahead of its expected launch early next year.

The photo above was posted on the Ferd Facebook page, although it's not clear from who or where they sourced this picture.

Given the design of the headlights and grille, the next-generation small hatch seems to have drawn more than a little inspiration from the Jaguar F-Type. Combined with tighter surfacing, and blacked out A- and C-pillars for a floating roof look, the new Swift promises to exude a more sporting character than today's car.

The car here seems to a mid-spec model, not the range-topping Swift Sport, renders of which were leaked from a dealers' conference in March this year.

That of cache of images also included our first look at the new Swift's dashboard, which has a more upmarket design, including a sporty gauge cluster, large touchscreen interface for the infotainment system, and a contrasting slab of body-coloured plastic.

Reports in the British press suggest that Euro-bound versions of the next-gen Swift will employ a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder with 82kW of power and 170Nm as its base engine.

The Swift Sport, meanwhile, is said to motivated by a 103kW/220Nm 1.4-litre turbocharged direct-injection engine.

Although nothing's been confirmed yet, we expect the new Swift to make its debut in early 2017 before going on sale locally during the second half of the year.
