hi me again, just googled my name and found this, so thought id update.
i got a fan and radiator, and the problem for the jet revving sound was the fan. it must have had a worn bearing and been off center for it to make that sound but will explain why it fell apart at the bearing.
i still have the lack in power and a tapping sound but advice from others tell me the motor needs replacing. even though im not experienced enough in motor mechanics especially with these up dated models in my past i think its one thing wrong with my car then change my mind from other advice i get only to spend hours to weeks trying to fix it then trying what i thought it was and fixing the problem easy.
so my 1st thought is the lack of power and flooding could be the injectors, mainly because i had to stop fast when going into my drive because a car came around the corner fast, then the car stalled and wouldnt start. as my son ran inside to get help to push it in the drive, i popped the hood and with the ignition off i heard what sounded like the injectors still working from the same area?
with the tapping sound my 1st thought was the oil pump due to starting the car it taps loud until oil is put up into the motor then quiets a bit (but still there) when driving it seems louder when it warms up and really loud when under pressure like up hills.
anyway like i said im not qualified with motor mechanics nor am i in the financial state to get someone to fix it so when i (find lol) and replace these items i will let yous know if it was that or not.

i have a 01/2001 Kia sportage and its a great car but has its problems like every other car, although it was slacking in power and revving like a jet engine, but last night on the way home from work i heard a big bang so checked under the hood and found the fan had broken away from the bearing area and pierced the radiator, i can get a radiator for $300 and cant find a viscus fan anywhere in stock, the up to this is the fan must be the reason for my loss of power and jet engine revving, cos without the fan trying to get home it was running perfect?
