FPV Limited Edition ‘Cobra GT Falcon’

Ford forums are rife with rumour this week that FPV are to release a limited edition ‘Cobra GT Falcon’ to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Allan Moffat and Colin Bond’s historic 1977 form-finish at Bathurst.
To be unofficially unveiled at this year’s Bathurst, the 302kW Boss V8 powered sedan will see it’s official release at Sydney’s International Motor Show. There is also speculation that a ute variant will follow, perhaps based on the Super Pursuit.
Like the GT 40th Anniversary model, they are only to be available in one colour, obviously white with blue stripes, and will be limited to a run of 250 units. The bonnet decal will read ‘Boss 302′ but all other specs are to be the same as the 40th Anniversary model. Pricing is said to be $71,500.
Some dealers are said to be taking orders but Ford remains tight lipped. As always, we’ll keep you posted.

F/Fords are pretty yawn……. to watch . Dont mind the VWs {Porsches}but the drivers dont biff and barge in them maybe something to do with they own them a lot of the time a VW is pretty expensive to fix.
So is it going to rain?,lets hope! the Ford drivers and their cars seem to be better than the red army when it wet.
Still going here Russell just got in the car,Kelly out and to the loo…….poor guy I do feel for him though . His hand bag brother wouldn’t have turned up at all if it was him. “MUM IM SICK CAN YOU RING WORK AND TELL EM I AM TOO SICK TO DRIVE” LOL
On another note bought the latest Motor yesterday and have just started reading it ,there is a computer generated pic of the Orion Ho {Your next car for that freshly swept garage} they are saying 350 kws around 100 units about 2010 and over $100.000 ,you think its too early to put a deposit down?

thats exactlly who i tipped on the supercar website i thought it was easily the best car driver combo.
cant wait to see pics or details of HO. it has to be in like 2 colours max aswell so it is easily distinguished
Racing was good yesterday,a tad boring in some sections.Way to many adds I clocked 10 mins of racing and 3 1/2 mins of adds at one stage. God I hope Bathurst coverage will be better! Your right about the best driver combo it seems almost everyone except 888 had a rooky or a retired driver as co driver.I thought the new tech drawings were good for a while but got in the way of the coverage after a while. Makes you wonder why they need a clutch though it seems they flat change most of the time,I have to laugh at foot cam though how they have one foot on the brake and the accelerator at the same time,not sure if you have ever driven a carbureted car that wont idle at the traffic light you do the same thing, toes on the brake and heel on the acc pedal to stop it stalling,hahaha ah the good old days
Hey Matt did you read the article in the latest Motor too? It also mentions the release of the Cobra at Bathurst in 3 weeks time .I guess Ford aren’t going to release anything else till then.
Funny how they have approached this project as when they did the 40th anniversary special they said they need orders first before they would look at making one ,this time there releasing the Cobra without advertising the fact its coming, apart from the leaks were getting we wouldn’t have known it was coming ?

Why not at least 310? the orion is expected to be 320
Hey ME!!!! I would think it has more than 302 kws anyway. I think the 302 is in reference to the XC Cobra that did come out ,4.9 litre then .Maybe not a Bathurst model that was 351 or 5.8 litre.
I would think the 320 kws they would want up their sleeve for advertising on the Orion only.

sorry missile havent had much time lately to reply to emails etc.
i was ripping out the bath room this weekend so i can give it a total make over yee haa. not a half done just replace the vanity and repaint the ceiling thing but a total gutting. yep all tiles, wall sheetings even a wall i decided should go.
hey im even giving myself a day off tomorrow to carry on a bit more and sort out the tiles etc.

Yep………..really strange still nothing the dealer will release on it,except a phone call to say last week {keeping in touch}that they will give us an update as as soon as they have the info! I read tonight a guy in Hobart has put down a deposit on a Phase 5. 2010 due out he’s keen !
Matt going to ring the dealer tomorrow for an update on the COBRA ,cant belive still nothing !Keep you posted! If 40th Gt is still watching this thread ,have you been told anything for this weekend ?
Oh and Andrew ,Russ sent me an update today ,he and Shelley Craft from the Great Outdoors are traving together from the Gold Coast to Bathurst in his Motor Home ,well I think its his cause he has a real beauty !

I don’t understand why they could not import 400 of the mustang bodies and reuse and re badge as the cobra.
cheaper than building a plant for it and also would cut down the price and still have continued on with the traditional hardtop muscle coupe.

I am so glad that Ford have done this.. My dad owns a XC Cobra.. beautiful car.. It would have been 30 years since the first cobra was released.. sure its no GTHO, but at least theres something out there now thats better than your standard GT-P

My next door neighbour owns a bf mark II ford falcon g-tp but on the bonnet reads boss 302. I know its not the new cobra but what engine does it really have? Is it 290kw or 302 kw likes it says.
I saw for the first time this morning that my next door neighbor has a bf mark II falcon gt-p but it is marked with a boss 302 sticker on the bonnet. Is it really 302 kw or is it just a fake?
Is it new? Cause the remainder of GTs made this year will be 302kws ,I am surprised that Ford put the 302 KW decal on it though. I thought they were keeping that just for the Cobras.
They don’t do GTP Cobras that I am aware of!

Mathew, You go on about following a Maloo on a “wonderful” country road Much faster in a straight line but corners and caught up very quickly.
At that time it sounded like it was a VZ, they wern’t good at corners. Notice you never said how you would go if that Maloo were an FPV, you would left behind every where, both straights and corners.
Hey David and TARA ……ignore my silly husbands reply to why your car was late leaving Adelaide……….he told Cobra045 the same thing.It was being used in the Toll yard to pick up the lunches and as a Taxi…..check for those suction marks on the roof for Taxi sign……..hes joking!
Will be interested to see if you get any increase in horsepower down low once you put on another exhaust. We have been told nil! We need to put headers on it though its too quiet………

for the record.. there will not be any normal BF GT’s with 302 Boss motors
the last 400 GT’s are Cobras to clear the shells to make way for new model. Any non Cobra GT’s are old stock and have 290 motors.. its just a myth if you hear otherwise..

Who told you it was a myth regarding the boss 302s?
I have just had it confirmed all new BF GTs do have the 302 kw engine,sorry not a myth .
i have just seen a GT with the 302 in it. it was breeze in colour…. so its def not a myth
What colour is breeze? I don’t think many will have them though,depending on how much longer we have to wait for the Orion……..you still hearing May next year?
apparently there is very little engine stock left at FPV and one there gone they will cease BF FPV production….
one reason why i think we will get a power increase in orion… why else would they run out engines?
Breeze is that light metallic teal colour… looks amazing!
At earliest may is what i was told, ford dealer wont even take my deposit for it yet!!
I know the colour similar to my car but mines a little more blue!

1 down 399 to go! Poor bloke! If true I wonder what number it was!Look out for a re- body,someone did the same with the 40th Anniversary when it was written off sold at action for $30,000 I think ……..not really sure though! Was getting re bodied,body works bought it I think!

Hmm, The Matthew on here hates all V8, but the Matthew on the leaked images of the Orion FPV page has a grudge against Fords. Any way they have the same dum behavour.

David and Tara check to see if you have a MP3 adapter? Meant to be under the tissue box! Cobra045 says he has one……we don’t though! Maybe when they were replacing stripes they installed some cause we didn’t get mats! Apparently the R SPEC Phoons got them!
