Following the initial teaser sketch released almost a month ago, Mitsubishi has released the first official photos of its upcoming compact crossover which will slot below the Outlander.
Boasting the same ‘jet fighter’ inspired front-end design; the new model will be known as the Mitsubishi RVR and is scheduled to make its European debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show.
Derived from the Concept-cX City Compact Crossover, the RVR utilises Mitsubishi’s global mid-size platform which also underpins the Lancer and Outlander.
The RVR Compact Crossover will be offered at launch with an all-new 1.8-litre MIVEC petrol engine, with the rest of the engine line-up along with at least one diesel offering expected to be confirmed closer to the launch date.
Mitsubishi Australia has confirmed the RVR will find its way into local showrooms by mid-to-late 2010.

Errrrrr, looks like a jacked up Lancer?
Nothing new and origional here
Sadly I agree, they could have at least tried harder
Looks horrific in the rear, and the front is Lancer to the tee. I understand that brands want a corporate face and Audi pull it off relatively well, but you do need to slightly change it to give each model its own identity. Audi corporate face= Good
Mazda=Bad Mitsu=???
it looks alright. mazda has the smiley face on all their cars so why can’t mitsu have the jet fighter look. the rear looks meaner then the front lol
Looks ok. My guess is the boot will be like the Tiguan, very small! The new BMW X1 is the same as the boot is smaller than Tiguans. I had a look at one here in Germany and its ok. The interior is very cheap to the look and feel. Very un-BMW. This new Mitsubishi is what a lot of people want. They like the sit up high driving style but not the stigma and the running costs that go with 4wd’s. Over here the bigger 4wd’s are on the nose. Its why Nissan sells so many Qashqui/Dualis’s. Mitsubishi just might be onto a winner.
hehe.. return of the RVR!
..needs more 4g63t..
I agree! Well, Kinda… Needs more 4B11 :P
I hate the name. Couldn’t they have named it something adventurous, or a real word along the lines of Outlander and Challenger? Like ‘NP’(National Park), or ‘ESV’(Extreme Sports Vehicle).
How about Mitsubishi WTF.
RVR – Recreational Vehicle Runner
This thing has got to get the Evo/Ralliart engine
and 4 pipe exhuast. If it does it will be a big hit here.
Well, I have a 1995 Mitsubishi RVR 4WD with 4G63 engine. Done 165,000ks and not put a foot wriong. I find it a great compromise in terms of the high seating (easy entry/exit), the command drving hight, the level of spec – it has sunroof, CD, Bosch spots, electric everything, air, auto trans, spare located on carrier which swings away from rear door, incredible seating options (Recaro type front seats and rear seat can slide back and forth about 18″) – which includes capacity to lie seats down front to back to create a flat dounbe bed. If this new one does the same business, and lasts as long, I’d be in for one.

suggests dimensions of 4295 x 1770 x 1615mm. Seems plausible, although I have no idea of the source of their info. That would pit it against Dualis and probably also VW Tiguan, if it is as space efficient as we would expect a Japanese maker to be. For instance, I notice that it appears to have the spare wheel suspended below the boot, as in the Zafira.

Makes these figures even more plausible, giving a detailed set of specs for the RVR.
