Peugeot Australia offers 8-year warranty on MY15 models for limited time

Peugeot has rolled out a big eight-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty and roadside assistance deal across its entire range for private buyers, besting the already impressive seven years offered by Kia.

There's a catch, however: while Kia's seven-year offer is a permanent program for all models, Peugeot's new warranty is strictly limited to existing stocks of model-year 2015 vehicles that have not yet been sold. One aspect of the deal is specifically for 2014-plated variants of the 2008 compact SUV.

The deal - which sees Peugeot throwing a five-year extended warranty on top of the standard three-year/100,000km warranty - is valid only on vehicles bought and delivered between November 9 and December 31.

Still, if you've been considering a 208, 308, 508, 3008, 4008 or 2008, this could prove a compelling deal. And, depending on the specific vehicle, there is a chance that although it will be a model-year 2015 car, it may have been built as recently as August this year.

It is unclear how many examples of each model are available, however, or what level of personalisation - if any - a buyer might expect to order.

It should be noted that Peugeot Australia's only 2016-plated models at the moment are the recently updated 208 Active with Apple CarPlay, the 308 Active with rear-view camera and nav, and the 308 GTi 270.

With year-to-date sales/registration figures for the end of October showing Peugeot on 2857 sales - down from 3555 at the same point in 2015 - it is perhaps no surprise that the brand is pulling out the stops on moving stock.

There is also no word on whether Peugeot's sister brand Citroen (809 sales year-to-date, down from 969) will offer a similar deal, although it already offers a more competitive six-year warranty.
