Nissan e-NV200 WORKSPACe revealed: The world’s first all-electric mobile office

Nissan has revealed the product of its partnership with UK-based design workshop Studio Hardie - the e-NV200 WORKSPACe - which the company says is the world’s first all-electric mobile office.

Based on the overseas e-NV200 electric van, the WORKSPACe mobile office features an integrated fold-out desk, touchscreen computer system, wireless internet functionality, smartphone-controlled LED interior lighting, wireless phone charging, Bluetooth audio system, mini fridge and even a barista-quality coffee machine.

Nissan says the e-NV200 WORKSPACe paints a picture of what desk-based employment could look like in the future, as ‘hot-desking’ and flexible working is growing in popularity around the world.

“With property prices in our capital cities at such a premium and the modern professional needing to be ever more mobile, businesses will need to think smart and consider what the workplace of the future looks like,” said Gareth Dunsmore, director of electric vehicles for Nissan Europe.

“The Nissan e-NV200 is already a smart, sustainable transport solution for forward-thinking businesses, making it the ideal vehicle to be used as the basis for a mobile workplace.”

“With hot-desking and remote working on the rise, it is not too big a leap to see a future where our vehicles will become connected, energy efficient, mobile workspaces and the e-NV200 WORKSPACe project could become more than just a concept,” he added.

The electric mobile office can be quick-charged from empty to 80 per cent in 30 minutes, while there is also an internal mount for a folding bicycle, allowing users to complete short trips within the ‘last mile’ of any journey.

Nissan says the all-electric mobile office also is an example of the company’s ‘Intelligent Mobility’ vision, along with its view that the relationship between people and vehicles is changing.

In production form, the Nissan e-NV200 is essentially the lovechild of the combustion-powered NV200 van and the Leaf EV.

Thanks to its 24kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the e-NV200 is capable of a zero-emissions range of up to 170km.
