Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram concepts teased ahead of SEMA debut

Fiat Chrysler has released a sample of  Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram sketches, previewing five heavily-modified concept cars bound for the 2016 SEMA show in Las Vegas next month.

This furious (and/or family-friendly) five have been re-imagined with production and concept parts from in-house tuning arm Mopar - a partnership that has created numerous bold concepts over the years.

Few details have been released yet, but we do know which production models these concepts will be based on.

1. Dodge Challenger (top)

If the Challenger muscle car already wasn't imposing enough, the Mopar-modified concept looks very tough with its dark-grey paint and bonnet scoop, along with its black and red body stripes.

The badge on the scoop appears to say "392 Hemi", which indicates the concept is packing a 6.4-litre (392 cubic inch) V8 under the bonnet from the SRT8 variant.

In the 'regular' Challenger SRT8, the 6.4-litre Hemi produces 350kW of power and 640Nm of torque. With the Mopar upgrades, these figures are likely to be bumped up.

2. Jeep Wrangler

A bright orange Wrangler 'CJ-Sixty-Six' is the second Mopar-modified concept, and the upgrades appear to enhance the off-roader's already capable look.

The 'CJ' name pays tribute to the original rough-and-tumble Willys Jeeps that preceded the Wrangler.

Similar to the Wrangler Trailcat concept that was shown at the Moab Easter Jeep Safari event in March, this latest concept features a blacked-out grille and black bonnet with vents, along with thick off-road tyres and contrasting wheel arches.

Little else has been revealed, so it's unknown whether the special Wrangler receives any upgrades under the bonnet.

3. Dodge Durango

While it was never sold in Australia, the Dodge Durango has very close family ties to the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Little is revealed from the teaser sketch other than the electric blue body colour and contrasting black bonnet.

It's likely the Mopar Durango will feature a version of the 270kW/530Nm 5.7-litre Hemi V8 borrowed from the R/T variant.

4. Chrysler Pacifica

The American people-mover used be sold here as the Grand Voyager, and Mopar's version looks to take full advantage of the spacious cabin - if the surfing decal is anything to go by.

Expect the Pacifica concept to be transformed into a surfboard-lugging wagon, complete with a matching beach-inspired colour scheme inside and out.

From the picture we can also see that the wheels have a bright blue outline for one set of spokes.

5. Ram Power Wagon

The 'standard' Ram Power Wagon is a special off-road version of the Ram 2500 ute - similar to Jeep's 'Trailhawk' range.

From the teaser sketch we can see there are unique decals, tougher-looking alloy wheels with off-road tyres and 'Ramrack' bars in the tray.

Under the hood of the production Ram Power Wagon is a 6.4-litre Hemi V8, which produces 306kW.

Expect the Mopar Ram Power Wagon to feature more rugged off-road styling and accessories.

Stay tuned for more coverage of SEMA 2016.
