2017 Hyundai Grandeur revealed, no chance for Australia

Hyundai has revealed its all-new 2017 Grandeur sedan this week, showcasing the latest step in its evolving design themes ahead of a Korean-market launch set for November.
The Grandeur was sold here in a past life and with a less resolved look in the 2000s, but that fourth-generation model's more stylish 2011 successor was kept from our shores.
That pattern will continue with this new upcoming sixth-generation Grandeur, with Hyundai Australia communications manager Bill Thomas confirming with CarAdvice today that we will not see the big new sedan in Australia.
The new Grandeur's look will build on the styling set forth by the smaller new i30 hatch revealed in October, with the company's new 'cascading' grille design set low ahead of a broad and diving bonnet form.
The long wrap-around look of the outgoing model's tail lamps will continue with this new model, evolving into a more angular and LED-rich design - and more than a little Dodge Charger influence.
A long coupe shape will dominate the profile, set above Bentley-like character lines and flared arches.
In the cabin, the new Grandeur boasts a far more upmarket look than its predecessor, taking the challenge to popular 'large medium' sedans like the updated Mazda 6 and Volkswagen Passat.
A two-tone theme is featured in the variant shown here, with a broad four-spoke steering wheel set in front of traditional mechanical instrument dials and a centre information display.
A large display - although far from the largest around - sits proud atop the dash, nestled alongside an analogue clock in a long panel reaching across from the passenger side.

Further details, including word of the new Grandeur's powertrains and platform, will be handed down within the next month, with the car's unveiling imminent.
While we won't see this more muscular new Grandeur in Australia, Hyundai's local arm will look to fill a similar executive-hauling role with the current Genesis sedan (recently rechristened 'G80') and the upcoming G70 mid-sizer.
