2016 Mercedes-Benz S350 recalled for transmission fix
Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall for 22 of its 2016 S350 limousines over concerns a wiring fault could lead to transmission failure.
According to the German marque, the clearance between the transmission/alternator wiring harness and the exhaust system may not be sufficient, which could result in damage to the wiring harness.
If this occurs, the transmission may inadvertently shift to ‘neutral’ while driving. Additionally, the driver may be unable to select the ‘park’ position.
Should the transmission fail when on the move, this poses a significant hazard to the vehicle’s occupants and other road users.
The affected vehicles were built during the first quarter of 2016.
Owners of the affected S350 vehicles will be contacted by Mercedes-Benz Australia via mail.
