The entry-level Tesla Model X 60D has been dropped only months after the all-electric SUV went on sale locally, significantly raising the entry price.

When the Australian-market configurator went live at the end of August, the Model X 60D was priced at $111,900 plus on-road costs.

Now that the previous entry point has been deleted from the line-up, the most affordable model on offer is the 75D, which kicks off at $125,000 plus on-roads.

With the 75kWh battery pack, the all-wheel drive 75D can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 6.2 seconds, hit a top speed of 210km/h, and offers an all-electric range of up to 417km.

The now-defunct 60D offered a 355km range, and was capable of matching the 75D’s 6.2-second 0-100km/h time.

Interestingly, Tesla only just released the Model S 60 sedan in June, which, like the Model X 60D, employs a software-limited 75kWh battery pack.

Speaking to CarAdvice, Heath Walker, senior marketing and communications manager for Tesla’s Australian arm, said: “Based on the preferences of our customers, we have decided to remove the Model X 60kWh variant.

“Our product line-up now better serves the needs and desires of a customer looking for a longer range all-electric SUV”

Walker also confirmed that the company has made ‘Smart Air Suspension’ standard on all versions of the Model X, while removing the Titanium Silver and Solid White colour options from both the Model X and Model S line-ups – which has been reported in overseas markets.
