2017 Kia Soul pricing and specs: $24,990 drive-away price for refreshed hatch

Local pricing and specifications for the updated 2017 Kia Soul have been detailed, with the boxy hatch sporting a lightly refreshed look, an updated interior and a sharper price.

For the new model year, the Soul now kicks off at $24,990 drive-away for the single-variant range, down from the previous price of $26,990, which did not include on-road drive-away costs.

While a relatively minor refresh, the updated Soul can be distinguished by its new grille, front bumper, air intake, fog lights, reflectors and a new alloy wheel design.

Inside, the 2017 Soul sports a revised centre fascia, a new cloth trim for the doors, new seat trims and a metal-painted steering wheel bezel.

There’s also an updated 5.0-inch colour infotainment unit and Drive Mode Select - an update of the previous FlexSteer system, which now adjusts both the steering and engine mapping.

Options include metallic paint ($520), two-tone solid paint ($390) and two-tone metallic paint ($910).

Australia won’t get the 150kW/265Nm 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine offered in overseas markets, instead carrying over the existing 113kW/191Nm 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated unit.

We'll also miss out on the 2017 model's navigation system, panoramic roof, leather interior options and updated LED daytime-running light design available in overseas markets.

Like the rest of the Kia range, the 2017 Soul comes with the company’s market-leading seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, with seven years of capped price servicing and roadside assistance.
