2017 Maserati Ghibli, Quattroporte detailed: Australian debut set for November

While the facelifted 2017 Quattroporte was revealed in June, the updated Ghibli has been detailed here for the first time. However, unlike its bigger brother, the smaller Maserati sedan doesn't feature any sheetmetal changes for the new model year.

Both models receive a redesigned centre console up front, along with a new high-resolution 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, which can also be controlled by a new rotary dial.

The Ghibli and Quattroporte are now offered with the optional advanced driver assistance systems package, which sees the addition of autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control with stop/go function, an air quality sensor, lane departure warning, along with forward collision warning with brake assist.

A surround camera system with front and rear dynamic guidelines is also available in conjunction with the package.

For the new model year, the Ghibli introduces two new trim packages; Luxury and Sport.

The Luxury package gives the Ghibli a more premium cabin ambience with Zegna Edition silk and premium leather upholstery.

Meanwhile, the Sport package adds sports seats, a sports steering wheel and aluminium paddle shifters.

Also available in conjunction with the Sport trim are two Carbon packages; one for the interior and one for the exterior.

New for 2017 is an Air Quality Sensor, standard on all variants, which determines external pollution levels and prevents polluted air and toxic gases from entering the cabin.

The base Ghibli 3.0-litre V6 petrol receives a power bump for the new year, now producing 350hp (261kW), 20hp (15kW) more than its predecessor.

With these upgrades, the Ghibli sprints from 0-100km/h in 5.5 seconds (0.1 seconds quicker), on its way to a top speed of 267km/h.

While we've previously reported that 2017 Quattroporte deliveries will commence later this year, the company's local arm has confirmed that first arrivals are about six weeks away.

Speaking with CarAdvice, Edward Rowe, media and public relations consultant for Maserati's local importer, Ateco Automotive, said both the updated Ghibli and Quattroporte ranges will be here in a month or so.

"[The Ghibli] is about a month away," he said.

"As for the MY17 Quattroporte, we've been taking expressions of interest, and deliveries are about six weeks or so away."
