Volkswagen Golf Mark VI Cabrio to be unveiled by 2010?
November 25, 2009 by Matt Brogan
Unconfirmed rumours today hint that VW could reveal a new Golf Cabriolet to the Mark VI range by 2010 as it takes ownership of the former Karmann factory in Germany, and, thanks to AutoExpress, here’s a couple of pics of how it may look.
Assuming it gets the green light, Golf Cabrio will compete with such models as the Ford Focus CC and Peugeot 308CC, but unlike so many folding tin-top cabrios, Golf will instead offer a more traditional fabric top – technology shared with its Audi A3 cousin.
Should the roof technology is the same as that of Audi’s, the Golf Cabrio will utilise a multi-layer construction for impressive refinement at high speeds. The mechanism will also be fully automated and will be able to be raised or lowered at speeds of up to 30km/h – a process that should take less than 10 seconds. Once down, the roof will sit flush with the bodywork behind the rear seats.

Whats happening with the eos then?
From what I’ve read, it will sit below the Eos in the VW range.
Love it, if it had a folding metal roof it would be an Eos update.
if it was a hardtop and it wasn’t a convertable then is it a golf coupe…
I am assuming the Eos will either be replaced by this new model or done away with.
From what I have read expect the next Eos to go up in size. Maybe based on the Passat architecture. I say bring it on, It looks a far more resolved design than the Eos. Not to mention the handling benefits of not having that heavy metal folding roof upsetting the handling.
Very clever computer animation work for the second picture. Couldn’t they have been creative and shown a picture of the rear?
I believe these are the only photos auto express had.
A Scirocco convertible would look much better. Golf is ho hum.
Veedub’s only trying to bring it back after long absence of Golf cabrio. But im with you abt Scirocco cabrio
But me to love eos….
But i still like eou also,,,
What’s the bet Volkswagen are using Karmann for the developement of the passat CC cabriolet/coupe to compete again higher classes?
Compete with I should have tapped, not against, a more diplomatic way of putting it.
