As a 4 wheel drive lover. 4 kids and acreage, horse floats, motorbike trailers etc. Who gives a rats what it looks like inside and out.Hello people. If you are driving a 4b in Australia and genuinely using one for what it was intented to be used for, you may take a gulp at the price but know it will be the most reliable 4b you could buy and resale will be better than any other trash on the road full stop. Ask anyone at any 4b park what they think of the disco. Want audio controls on your wheel etc? Serioulsy??

I'm not sure but isn't the new Sorento only available in two wheel drive? If so, it isn't really a fair comparison.

I will jump on the Kia website and see if I have my facts right or not...

Horses for courses, just bought a Diesel VX Prado. Went shopping for a comfortable generously proportioned wagon with leather seats as a tow vehicle for 2t of boat. Industrial sized family fits very comfortably. Looked at the range of vehicles in this bracket and the Prado came up trumps because it fitted us. This includes the 6'3" 15yo in the 2nd row seats behind the driver with seat fully back.

That said, soccer mums would be better off with a people mover as it is a large gadget and shopping centre parking is tight. Height can be an issue in some car parks. Towing performance is quite acceptable, and while there is much talk about being down on power, normal driving is quite acceptable, with sufficient acceleration to overtake.

Have not had the foot "flat to the floor" as it is still being run in and I intend to keep it long term. The vehicle is part of a package at work under a novated lease, and the extra few dollars per fortnight over the competition, when stacked up with potential resale makes it a viable proposition. If forced to buy outright without the tax advantages, my choice may have been different.

Fuel economy is as good as they advertise, and with just over 5K on the speedo I am getting regular 8.8l/100Km average combined highway & urban. Overall I like the vehicle a lot, and for what we need to do it performs well. Get your requirements sorted clearly and make up your own mind. If the thing you buy does not do the job you bought it to do you have dumped dollars, whether a Kia, BMW, Patrol, Pajero or Prado.

I am not a 4wd fanatic, and ours probably won't see the tar, but it will get used a lot for towing and touring, and this still makes it a better proposition than a Falcon/Commodore/Kluger/Territory for the sake of a few dollars a week. The difference in fuel between the petrols and the diesel were almost enough to offset the increased total lease costs for similar finished vehicles.
