Think Global entering US market
November 23, 2009 by Alborz Fallah
It has been revealed that Norwegian electric car manufacturer Think Global is planning to produce and sell its cars in the US.
Think has a loan application in the earlier stages as a part of the US Government’s scheme to encourage the local production of fuel-efficient vehicles.
Around 2300 Think City small cars have been ordered in the past 12-18 months and production will begin in Finland in December – in the same city as Porsche makes its Boxster and Cayman.
Think is aiming to sell 4600 units next year and then double production by 2011.
Think City can travel up to 180 kilometres in one charge, with a top speed of 100km/h.

I’m not sure the Americans will embrace a car like this. From what I’ve noticed, they want their ‘green’ cars to have real presence, and an air of prestige around them. This is why the luxury GS450h, sporty Tesla roadster and unmistakebly eco Prius are such success’. A tinny, small ugly Think will not capture the American’s attention.
Why can’t they make Eco cars look good? No one will go green if their ride looks like that. The smart car is similar but looks cool! Why not make it look like that?
