2017 Peugeot 308 facelift spied

The current Peugeot 308 may only be a couple of years old, but it seems the French car maker is already planning a mild facelift for its small hatch sometime over the next year, as these new spy photos show.

While it appears to be a very minor refresh, the updated 308 could get revised headlights and a new front bumper design, which on this vehicle incorporates a square-shaped sensor likely to be used for an autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system - which isn’t currently offered.

The new face seems to be inspired by the recently-revealed 3008 SUV, with a new grille that sees the company’s lion badge proudly sitting in the centre, as opposed to the current design that sees it positioned on the bonnet.

While there doesn’t appear to be any changes at the rear, the updated 308 could see slight revisions to the tail-light graphics to echo the updated ‘three claw’ design seen on the new 3008.

It’s unknown whether there will be new engines under the bonnet, though it’s likely there will be some form of powertrain revisions reduce fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions.

The 2017 Peugeot 308 could possibly make an appearance at the Paris motor show in a month’s time, though a debut in Geneva next March could also be on the cards.
