Absolute Perfection – Aston Martin DBS

Highly acclaimed as arguably the world's most beautiful car, the DB9 was the pinnacle of Aston Martin performance - until now.

The first glimpse of this beast came in the movie Casino Royale and ever since then die-hard enthusiasts have been eagerly anticipating its public debut.

Powered by the same venerable 6.0L V12 engine found in the DB9, the engine has been tweaked to produce 380kW - almost 20kW more than the DB9. These modifications include a ‘by-pass’ engine air intake port that opens above 5500rpm to allow more air into the engine, and re-profiled air inlet ports that further improve airflow into the combustion chamber.

On top of the power increase, a generous amount of carbon-fibre has seen the DBS shed nearly 65kg over the DB9 to a weight of 1695kg. The performance coupled with the weight reduction hurtles the DBS to 100km/h in just 4.3 seconds and on to a 191mph (302km/h) top speed, making it a true supercar.

Stay tuned in the coming week for a full and comprehensive review of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage.
