November 10, 2009 by Matt Brogan

Škoda began production of its Superb Estate model yesterday as the first example rolled off the production line in Kvasiny, Czech Republic.

Car number one – an Elegance 2.0 TDI in Satin Grey – typifies what is the most luxurious wagon yet built by the brand offering a class-leading 1,865 litres of cargo space (633 litres with the rear seats up), choice of petrol and diesel engines, plus both manual and DSG transmission options.

The Superb Estate measures 4,838mm long, 1,817 wide and 1,510 high, and in keeping with Škoda’s tradition of offering great value for money, offers a number of new optional features, including a keyless entry and ignition system and a revised Park Assist system that allows the estate to parallel park in an even tighter space than before.  An electronically operated boot opening and panoramic sunroof are also available.

Production of right-hand drive variants will commence in January 2010 with Australian delivery to follow shortly thereafter.

I think that that is a good looking estate. I cant wait untill they bring it out here. I think itll be a great hit and is definatly better than the Sportswagon

    • Wheelnut says:

That’s a joke right? The Holden Sportwagon is more Popular [In Australia] then you’d think..

Sorry – I had to specify “Australia” for Tomas79s sake

  2. Ad says:

Can’t wait to see it in the metal. How much is it going to cost?

  3. filippo says:

Unless it has a 3rd row of seats (which from the look of it, it doesn’t) then it will be just another European wagon, no more spectacular than the Renault Laguna.

  4. Allen says:

Massively underwhelming news, just like the car and I’m sure just like it’s Australian sales are going to be. Whats the target, 10 per year sounds about it.

  5. Wheelnut says:

Wouldn’t it have been cheaper and easier to build more Audi A4 or A6 wagons and just change the badge? – they look the same

  6. Jake02 says:

Flippo – WTF!? 7-seats? Why? What person (in Europe) would buy one with 7-seats? Here, they’d just buy an SUV! Renault Lagunas are crappy, wollowy French-mobile. Superbs have something called ‘dynamics’ and ‘reliability’!

Allen – as with others, you have no idea about any Skoda. I’ve driven a Superb V6 and it’s fantastic, so why would extra bootspace make it worse? Taking shots at sales figures is completely pointless. That’s not Skoda’s fault is it? It’s the dumbasses who can’t see daylight that the Superb is an alternative, let alone a better alternative to the typical Aussie Six.

Wheelnut – who said anything about Sportwagon sales figures? And Superb Combi V6 4×4 would easily beat a Sportwagon Calais V V6 (just like the sedan :P)! Skoda made a Superb not A4 because Superbs drive better (Audis have way lighter steering and somewhat too stiff ride comfort).

Ad – probably around $2k more than the hatch when it arrives.

    • Really? says:

Yay, “Jake the Skoda defender” to the rescue! Somebody says something even remotely negative about Skoda and he heas to jump right to their defence.

Jake, wake up to yourself, Skodas are far from the perfect thing you portray, others have thier opinions and are just as correct as your one-eyed biased view is the other way.

      Look at your post:
      1. If Flippo needs 7 seats why should he have to buy a bargeass SUV?
      2. Suddenly Renaults are crappy and Skodas have brilliant dynamics and reliability – well its just you opinion again, and many would dissagree.
      3. Sales figures are pointless hey? Well they wont be when Skoda shuts up shop in 18 months leaving the punters in the lurch.
      4. A Superb is NOT even a VIABLE alternative to the traditional Aussie six for what I need in a car, let alone being better. The Superb just doesn’t cut it.
      5. Skoda vs VE wagon? You can debate that all you like, but when the entire annual Skoda sales in Australia matches just two months of VE wagon sales, get back to me.
      6. A Skoda Superb is a better car than an Audi A4. Now you have proved that you are just full of it, a Skoda diehard until the end (’bout 18 months will do it). What, do you go back to flogging Toyots then?

      • Jake02 says:

Really? Ooooohhhh!!! You’re a smart little cookie aren’t you!? That much attitude deserves a medal!

Yep, its p****s like you who don’t realise what good cars Skodas are, and thats why I’m here defending them. And I’m gonna rip you to shreads. Here we go:

        1. I never suggested to Flippo that they should buy an SUV. I said thats what everybody else does, because of the little amount of MPVs available here.
        2. The Renault Laguna is not a good car. This has been reported by many media outlets around the world, and the Superb has beaten it in every occasion I’ve ever read (as well as most of the competition).
        3. Sales figures don’t matter no, because thats all you clowns take shots at Skodas with. It’s not Skoda’s fault at their sales figures right?
        4. And why doesn’t the Superb cut it for your high standards? For most people, I’m pretty sure it does.
        5. I wouldn’t bother getting back to you as you’d make up more crap as to what I’ve said!
        6. My favourite. I’m full of it? Yeah, coming from you! If you had $60k to spend, would you buy a small A4 or a big, roomy Superb V6? It just argues itself out. The interior quality is exactly the same (which seems to be the reason people buy Audis) and they both look posh. The Superb comes with alot more equipment and engine too! Hmmmmmmmm see my point?
Oh, and flogging Toyotas. Are you well and truly serious? I am not a person who buys a car as an A to B appliance, only looking for reliability and comfort. Thats why I bought a Skoda! It does reliability, but with everything else! Good bye!

        • Move along please ..... says:

          …… nothing to see here.

Jake02 you answered nothing with you pathetic rant.

Tomas79 would be proud of your “nothing” comebacks – in fact you sound just like him, in every way.

Funny how you both use names made up from the same formula that a particular feral dawg addmitted to some time back.

          • Tomas79 says:

Come on caradvice, lets ban the Troll!!

          • Jake02 says:

As Thomas79 said, you are the troll as such who goes around and disproves everybody’s arguments. If you don’t like anything anyone is saying, do us a favour and get stuffed! No-one is forcing you to comment are they? B******t artist…

Oh, and my ‘nothing’ comments are around 1,000,000 times more a) to the point, b) grammar-correct and c)relevant to anything to do with a car (instead of just aiming crap at others!). Thanks for your ‘contribution’!

          • Sam09 says:

Look who’s having a hissy fit at being caught out again.
Funniest thing is hes the only one who cant see that its more than one person catching him out with his B/S.
I bet nobody else thinks tha Skoda will last ANOTHER 2 years in Australia. Heck im not even sure Tomake7902 realy believes it.

          • Car Fanatic says:

Okay Sam, you clearly are a retard, because if you took the time to read any of Tomas79’s post’s and Jake02’s post, you would see quite clearly they have completely different writing styles, hence they can’t be the same person. It’s just a coincidence they both like Skoda, hell I like Skoda ( it’s a VAG brand)

          • Sam09 says:

Nah, CF its a symbolic collective because they dont seem to be able to express an opinion without backing themselves or each other up. Where theres one theres always two.

          • Tomas79 says:

Funny how we keep on getting personally harassed by new identities such as Move along please ….., sam09, that have never posted on this site before!! Off course we know the vast majority of these posts were made by one site troll (Bavarian Missile)!
I highly recommend car advice do something about this crazy individual, as it getting beyond a joke!!

    • Captain Nemo says:

      Jake02

It,s time to shut the Skoda dealership dude nobody is coming this late at night to buy one in fact nobody is coming at all to buy em.

BTW Aussies are not “dumdasses” we are the exact opposite smart and we know overpriced Eurotrash when we see it. Skoda will go the same way as SEAT in OZ gone in 2yrs tops.

I made the mistake of buying one well actually the missus was the one that wanted it not me most unreliable POS i have ever owned can’t wait to offload it.

        Captain Nemo:
“It’s time to shut the Skoda dealership dude nobody is coming this late at night to buy one in fact nobody is coming at all to buy em.”

Once again, I DO NOT run a Skoda dealer! “BTW Aussies are not “dumdasses” we are the exact opposite smart and we know overpriced Eurotrash when we see it. Skoda will go the same way as SEAT in OZ gone in 2yrs tops.”
My ‘dumbasses’ remark was not aimed at Aussies ok? Its at the people who contiunually buy Commodores etc – they need to wake up and realise that there is better out there! Skoda will be here longer than 2 years I guarantee it! One, because they’ve been here for 2 years and 1 month and two, VW Aus wouldn’t just bring a brand out here for fun would they? They weren’t expecting flash sales immediately were they?

“I made the mistake of buying one well actually the missus was the one that wanted it not me most unreliable POS i have ever owned can’t wait to offload it.”
Which brand are you referring to? Skoda or Seat? Seats in Australia weren’t owned by VW and were therefore crap. Skoda (as well as the rest of the world!) has come alot further than crappy reliability – apart from the Italian brands.

        • Matt says:

So your not a salesman & do not run a dealership yet you can “gaurantee” that Skoda will last longer than 2 years.

Jake, thanks for finally declaring your vested interest in Skoda, and admitting that your biased opinions towards Skoda (and against others) are worthless and void.

EVERYBODY, JAKE02 HAS ADMITTED HIS COMMENTS ARE ALL BASED ON VESTED INTERESTS IN SKODA – PLEASE IGNORE THEM ALL.

          • Jake02 says:

Once again, you have failed to actually get anything against me. I do not think that anyone else’s opinions are rubbish, but if their ‘opinion’ is based on something they think I have said that of course it can totally be disproven. As I said above, I can guarantee Skoda will last more than 2 years because they HAVE! They launched in September 2007. I think that’s more than 2 years! Duh…

        • Captain Nemo says:

          Jake02

Ok Jake the problem child is a 1yr old Skoda and i stand by my comment most unreliable POS i have ever owned.

And you have now changed your “dumbasses” comment to Commodore owners seeing aussies buy Commodores i still think your insulting Aussies.

You seem almost upset that your beloved Skoda in not the fastest selling brand in OZ. Skoda is a budget brand in other parts of the world yet here in Australia they are trying to flog them as some sort of Merc competitor.

Newsflash Jake Veedub owned SEAT when they were here and left the owners high & dry when Seat flopped.

  7. Hung Low says:

    Jake02 says:
Sales figures don’t matter no, because thats all you clowns take shots at Skodas with. It’s not Skoda’s fault at their sales figures right?

    Its not there fault??
If Skoda designed and produced a car that looked like a bulldog with a harmonica stuck in its mouth, I think its totally their fault.
Even if Skoda was the most reliable brand, with cars designed by braille they will end up with the same credibility as a Mahindra!

  8. jojo says:

What the HELL is wrong this guy JAKE 02. He is quick to rubbish anyone who doesnt think the sun shines out of a Skoda tailpipe yet gets really offensive at the slighest contrary opinion.

Reminds me of a guy I use to work with…We nicknamed him FIBRO as he would crack under the slighest of pressure…LOL

    • Jake02 says:

Oh really, how nice of you!!! I do not get offensive (well at least try to get offensive) and if you get offensive about someone dis-proving your argument than there is something wrong. And as I said, I couldn’t care less if someone thinks the styling is weird or whatever (thats their opinion), but if their argument is based on something false or wrongly suggested then of course it could be wrong!

If Sam09 and Really? were so put off by my comments then I’m sure they didn’t have to reply right? And, their reply comments are irrelevant if they come along with all this attitude about I shouldn’t be commenting crap, but they are in the same boat! :P

      • jojo says:

Jake02 styling comes down to the individuals expressed opinion “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” they say.

I dont want to get caught up in the crossfire with you and the other guys that you are exchanging heated posts with but as you say “they are in the same boat”

So really nobody is right or wrong but it comes down to people being able to post their opinion without feeling that they will cop a hammering because they are critical of skoda.

Dont take it to heart Jake02….I suppose most people posting here would have allegience to some brand whilst others are objective in their summations.
