2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA:: refreshed coupe and wagon range arrives in Australia from $52,500

The refreshed 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA coupe and CLA Shooting Brake range has arrived in Australia, bringing a new look and updated specifications across the range.

Following its reveal in March, the refreshed CLA coupe and Shooting Brake line-up are now available in Australia, which sees similar updates to the 2016 model-year Mercedes-Benz A-Class range – including the addition of a new 8.0-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

Starting $1100 higher than last year’s model, the range kicks off at $52,500 plus on-road costs for the entry-level CLA 200 coupe ($54,000 Shooting Brake), rising to $92,215 for the all-out AMG CLA 45 4Matic in both body styles.

The CLA 200 retains its 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 115kW of power and 250Nm of torque.

Standard equipment on the base model for the new model year includes LED headlights, DAB+ digital radio, selectable driving modes, diamond front grille design along with ambient lighting.

The $1500 premium for the CLA 200 Shooting Brake also adds the Keyless-Go package as standard, which includes push-button start, keyless entry and automatic tailgate.

For the new model year, the CLA 220d ($53,900 coupe/$55,400 Shooting Brake) receives an upgraded turbo-diesel engine, which now produces 130kW of power and 350Nm of torque (up 30kW and 50Nm). Equipment upgrades mirror that of the CLA 200.

Stepping up to the hotter CLA 250 Sport 4Matic ($67,600 coupe/$68,600 Shooting Brake) adds the 160kW/350Nm 2.0-litre turbo petrol that is carried over from the previous model, along with 18-inch alloy wheels, sports suspension, a panoramic sunroof, sports seats trimmed in black ‘Red Cut’ leather, fully-electric and heated front seats along with adaptive highbeam assist.

Topping the updated CLA range is the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4Matic, which starts at $92,215 for both body styles. Retaining the 280kW/450Nm 2.0-litre turbo petrol from the previous model, the CLA 45 is capable of sprinting from 0-100km/h in 4.2/4.3 seconds in coupe and Shooting Brake form respectively.

Standard equipment on the AMG-powered flagship includes 19-inch AMG alloy wheels, AMG driver’s package, AMG performance exhaust, AMG high-performance brakes, AMG seats, Comand Online Navigation system and harmon/kardon sound system.

All CLA Coupe and Shooting Brake variants come equipped with a host of safety features, including nine airbags, active brake assistance, blind spot monitoring, active bonnet, driver fatigue monitor, brake assist and autonomous emergency braking (AEB).

AMG CLA 45 variants add lane keep assistance and ‘Distance Pilot’ adaptive cruise control as standard.

The updated CLA coupe and CLA Shooting Brake range is available to order now.
