2017 Mercedes-AMG E63 S Estate spotted – Black Series or just black?

The 2017 Mercedes-AMG E63 Estate is looming even closer to release, having been spotted testing in new camouflage.

Sporting bulging arches and quad-exhaust tips, the next generation E63 Estate is expected to be offered in an all-wheel drive version only. It is not known whether the system will use the current 4Matic name, but CarAdvice has previously reported that the system will be new and may include an active, variable torque split.

Most curiously though, these photos arrived with the promise of showing an even hotter 'Black Series' variant of the E63. CarAdvice spoke with AMG Managing Director Tobais Moers in Geneva earlier this year, who offhandedly dismissed changing the Black Series format from exclusively two-door cars to one with four, or in the case of the E63 Estate, five doors. So we believe these photos depict the standard E63 (and E63 S) Estate.

It is expected that the 2017 E63 will feature a version of the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 as found in the AMG GT coupe and C63 S models, potentially tuned to 450kW/850Nm output.

There is rumour that the new E63 will be unveiled at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. Stay tuned to CarAdvice for all the show news and updates as they come to hand.
