2017 McLaren 688HS caught undisguised

The McLaren 688HS has been photographed completely undisguised on, what seems like, the factory floor.

The image above was posted on the McLaren Life forums by user JFPW3097 after somehow turning up on his Facebook feed.

This latest photo seemingly confirms the authenticity of renderings that were leaked online in early June. The above image gives us a look at the car's revised aero package up front, which now includes two winglets on each side.

Using the same basic chassis and body as its lesser Super Series siblings, the 688HS will usurp the 675LT as the fastest and most expensive variant of the Super Series line.

Behind the passenger cell, the 688HS will have a retuned version of McLaren's 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8. As its name suggests, it will churn out 688 metric horsepower or 502kW.

The slight increase in power will reportedly be combined with a further reduction in weight to improve performance. The 496kW 675LT is capable of completing the 0-100km/h dash in 2.9 seconds and hitting a top speed of 325km/h.

Earlier rumours indicated that the 688HS was a one-off project, but the latest reports indicate that the 688HS is headed for a limited production run of 25 units, all of which are already spoken for.
