2016 Mercedes-AMG C43:: Australian pricing revealed for new entry-level performer

Australian pricing for the new 2016 Mercedes-AMG C43 sedan and wagon has surfaced online, with the entry-level AMG model kicking off at $101,900 plus on-road costs.


Starting at a significant $54,000 below the full-fat V8-powered C63 S, the C43 sedan (formerly known as the C450 AMG Sport) is priced from $101,900, while the more practical wagon starts at $104,400 - lower than the previous prediction of $110,000 plus on-roads.

While still yet to be announced by the company’s local arm, standard features on both sedan and wagon variants should include 19-inch alloy wheels, 13-speaker sound system, dual-zone climate control, full-LED headlights, internet connectivity, digital radio, sports exhaust system and an electric sunroof.

A range of 10 colours will be offered, one solid, nine metallic - the latter commanding between $1990 and $2990 extra.

Powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine producing 270kW of power and 520Nm of torque, channelled to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission, the C43 sedan can sprint from 0-100km/h in just 4.7 seconds (4.8 wagon) - only 0.7 seconds slower than the C63.

The C43 sedan and wagon will be joined by a will be joined by a coupe version later in the year which, if the C63’s pricing is anything to go by, should start around $4000 more than the wagon, pointing to a $108,400 price tag.

Speaking with CarAdvice, Mercedes-Benz Australia communications manager, David McCarthy, said interest in the new model is already very strong, with order numbers already in "high double figures".
