2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class All Terrain spied

The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class All Terrain wagon has been spied ahead of its likely debut later this year.

The new E-Class All Terrain will be pitched at the Audi A6 Allroad, and will give luxury car buyers another option to get a smidgen of off-road ability without giving up on the traditional wagon body style.

As we can see here, the E-Class All Terrain will feature revised front and rear bumper styling incorporating bash plate-style elements. Like many of its ilk, these off-roader-like styling embellishments may feature contrasting colours or be painted in silver.

There's also a bit of disguise over both the front and rear wheel arches hiding a revised fender design with subtly flared wheel arches or plastic cladding for a more off-road feel.

All-wheel drive will likely be standard, and the rumour mill suggests that the E-Class All Terrain will also come with an air suspension setup that has a higher than normal default setting.

Propulsion will come from a selection of the turbocharged petrol and diesel engines already used in the rest of the E-Class range. Unlike other model in the E-Class lineup, it's unlikely that the All Terrain will be given the AMG treatment.

Australia

The new E-Class All Terrain is expected to make its debut at the 2016 Paris motor show, which takes place at the beginning of October. The raised wagon will likely go on sale towards the end of 2016 or the beginning of 2017.

It's not known, at this stage, whether the E-Class All Terrain is earmarked for sale in Australia.
