It’s the car that fans of the current model won’t like: the new car will discontinue today’s B-class’ overall layout of a super-mini MPV in favour of a more hatchback-like design. Much more than a Sports-Tourer, the new car will be a Golf beater and a car Wolfsburg will have to fear.

With its lower profile and sportier appearance, the new B-class is hoped to attract younger buyers rather than the middle-ager and the generation 60+ the current model is bought by.

Little is known yet about the range of petrol and diesel engines to expect, but we are pretty sure a hybrid and a fuel-cell variant will be on offer right from the start – it’s time for Mercedes to come up with something greener than Blue Efficiency after all…

Current A and B Series are horrible looking cars and bloody expensive aswell.

  2. cteee says:

Current B class is one of the most practical car on the market. Although expensive. It gives loads of room without the 4wd overhead.

  3. MB says:

I have a current W245 B200 and I had a W167 A170 before that are daily drivers. The B class has been the best car I have owned for daily commuting, shopping, throwing the bike in the back and the odd country drive. The fuel consumption is great get 650km out of a 55 litre tank in city driving and the safety features are a bonus. It was an Ex MBHQ car with metro & luxury pack (full leather/panoramic sunroof, park sensors) paid $39,990.00 with warranty & 12000km on the clock and just over a year old when purchased. Sure it is a overpriced Corolla but what price do you put on safety ?

  4. Jon Leong says:

If the new one can still provide the current spacious feel and provide a 1 series RWDriving experience while maintain the current price then Yes…

  5. Carz says:

This Merc B Class is the most weird looking Merc I’ve ever seen. Although being a practical car really have its advantages, and many would dig this car because of that reason alone.

    • Jon Leong says:

R Class is the most weird looking if u ask me… At least the B-class still have a shape of a big hatch back… R-Class is a Wagon x 4WD x MPV Thing…

  6. gearboxdawg says:

The current B Class has a very nice sleek body design and feel but ridiculously expensive. No other German competitors have a rival product for the Sports Tourer category which is good for Daimler.

To change it to a compact hatch will lower its prestige and compete with the BMW 1 series and Audi A3.
