2018 Porsche Cayenne spied in winter testing – UPDATE

The third-generation Porsche Cayenne has been spied once again, and this time it's sporting a little less camouflage than before.
Unlike earlier prototypes, which featured fake head- and tail-light print outs, this latest development vehicle seems to feature production headlamps, while temporary LED tail-lights now grace the rear end.
Despite a smattering of false body panels on the tailgate and around the tail-light region, we can see that the new crossover will feature evolutionary styling despite its new underpinnings.
Given the car's long front overhang, it's safe to surmise that the new Cayenne will be based on the Volkswagen Group's MLB component set for front- and all-wheel-drive cars with longitudinal engines.
This means that the Cayenne will share a lot in common with the Bentley Bentayga, Audi Q7, and the next-generation Volkswagen Touareg.
We've already seen the interior in an earlier set of spy photos, and it seems to share a lot of components with the recently unveiled second-generation Panamera.
In the centre of the dashboard there's a widescreen high resolution capacitive display, and in the centre tunnel there's a mass of capacitive buttons surrounding the gear shifter.
Engines will also likely be shared with the Panamera too. At launch, the new Panamera 'sedan' will be available with a 324kW/550Nm 2.9-litre twin-turbo petrol V6, a 310kW/850Nm sequential twin-turbo V8 diesel, and a 404kW/770Nm 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine.
The next-generation Porsche Cayenne is expected to make its debut some time next year.
