We have just done 3,000km in our brand new 2011 Sorento Plainum and loved every minute of it.
We have come out of a line of ownership that has included 2 x Prados and a Patrol and the car-like behaviour of the Sorento is refreshing.
We have done Cape York (via the Telegraph Track) and Fraser Island as well as many other off-road adventures in the last 10 years so the change to a "soft-roader" from Korea is still a little nerve wracking. I am keen to start trying some sand and fire trail camping adventures in the Kia and push it a bit out of its off-roading comfort zone.
Overall, a very satisfying, well built, well appointed comfortable family vehicle with great fuel economy, and $15k cheaper than a replacement Prado GXL!!
Love the Kia!

My partner & I have just purchased a Black Kia Sorento Si in Diesel. As we now have added a dog to the family, with 3 little kids, the Sedan we had was becoming a tight squeeze. We liked the well appointed Sli but couldnt justify the extra 3-4 grand. We have added front and rear parking sensors though ($900). We have only owned the vehicle for a week, so we took it for a decent drive through the windy and hilly back roads of the Mornington Peninsula. We are very happy with how it handles and the seats are supportive and comfortable. The engine is smooth & eager to please. The one niggle we have so far is that our iphone cord was faulty and doesn't work. The dealership have ordered us a new one and it should be here in a week. We are delighted with our purchase, The Sorento is so much better value than a Ford Territory or Toyota Kluger, of which we test drove both and we kept coming back to the Kia. The Holden Captiva (although cheaper) couldnt match the Sorento for internal Space. We traded in a 16 month old Ford Falcon G6 and we have not regretted moving into a Korean built car. I would happily recommend anyone who is looking at a Family vehicle thats flexible, well equipped, comfortable and above all good value for money, the Sorento is certainly worth a test drive, like us you will be surprised by the package!

We already change the intake and exhaust valve also the valve seal, I would like to ask why my kia sorento Model 2006 can't travel 100km/hr.?
Also power and the injector pump soaked with oil and diesel, what is the possible causes?

I sat in one yesterday and felt a bit cramped (I'm 6ft). There's no way it's as roomy or has the cargo space of the Challenger or Kluger yet the specs suggest otherwise. I'm taking a tape measure with me tomorrow to satisfy myself that I'm not imagining it. Size-wise it doesn't stack up against those other two and that stupid little reverse camera in the mirror idea is a joke. For that sort of money I want the sat-nav / camera large screen on the dash. I reckon you'd struggle to see the image on a sunny day with light streaming in through the two sunroofs.
I can't go past the 5/10 yr warranty on the Challenger also.

I have a 2007 Kia Sorrento Auto Diesel. It is a great vehicle for towing caravan and off roading, and I am very happy with it. I will not even entertain buying another Kia Sorrento now that the specs have changed so much. It is obviously no longer attractive as a towing vehicle and off roader, which is a great pity.
