2016 Mini JCW Convertible pricing and specifications
Mini Australia has announced the pricing and specifications of the new go-faster 2016 Mini John Cooper Works (JCW) Convertible, the third variant in the Mini Convertible range.
Only months after being confirmed for the Australian market in February, the hottest drop-top Mini joins the standard Cooper and hotter Cooper S variants. The JCW will take top spot in the new Mini Convertible range, starting at $54,900 plus on-road costs.
The heart of the ‘most powerful Mini Convertible ever’ is the same 170kW/320Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that does service in the Mini JCW hatch.
Performance figures for the new JCW convertible include a claimed 6.5-second sprint from 0-100km/h on its way to a top speed of 240km/h.
Standard equipment on the Mini JCW Convertible includes; a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle-shifters, 12-speaker Harmon/Kardon audio system, DAB digital radio, reversing camera, Mini’s navigation professional system, head-up display, LED headlights, front- and rear-parking sensors along with 18-inch JCW alloy wheels wrapped in run-flat tyres.
Along with the aforementioned features, the Mini convertible also offers a sliding roof function that allows a roof opening of up to 40cm at any speed - similar to a hard top’s sliding moonroof. A six-speed manual transmission is also available as a no-cost option.
Other inclusions with the flagship soft-top are adaptive dampers and an electronic differential lock, along with fuel-saving auto stop/start, regenerative braking and active air intakes. Claimed fuel use for the JCW convertible is a combined 6.2L/100km.
The new hot-convertible benefits from added space around the interior over the previous generation; offering 36mm more shoulder room, 112mm more rear elbow room and 36mm extra knee room. Additionally, the new-generation JCW convertible gets an extra 45 litres of luggage space in the boot.
As with the rest of the Mini range, the JCW convertible offers an extensive list of personalisation and equipment options. Headlining the options list is a ‘Mini Yours’ soft roof embroidered with the Union Jack, along with a wide range of interior and exterior trim elements.
