2016 Volkswagen T6 Transporter, Multivan, Caravelle recalled for airbag fix
Volkswagen is recalling 268 vehicles from its 2016-model year T6 Transporter, Multivan and Caravelle lines over concerns that the left side airbag may deploy incorrectly.
The German manufacturer reports that the passenger side airbag may not deploy correctly in an accident, due to having been incorrectly folded during assembly.
As a result, the front-left side airbag’s effectiveness could be compromised and may increase the risk of injury to the front passenger in the event of a collision.
This recall is the sixth for Volkswagen Australia this year, following the Touareg recall a just over a fortnight ago, the Jetta and Tiguan recalls last month along with the Touareg and Passat recalls that were issued in late-March.
Owners of the affected Volkswagen vans will be contacted via mail. Customers who want more information can contact Volkswagen customer care on 1800 504 076.
