2017 Renault Clio RS ‘KZ 01’ leaked:: more power, bolder styling

Photos of a new Renault Clio RS variant, or a concept precursor, have been leaked and published online ahead of its debut next week at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Although these images of the so-called 'KZ 01' originally surfaced on fan forums, we first spotted this new Clio RS at the The Automobilist.

Among the most noticeable changes between this Clio RS and the car that's currently in showrooms is the wider track, and the wheel arch extensions at both the front and back. They are accompanied by new side sills and front splitters.

Black is highlight colour of the day, with the never-out-of-vogue shade gracing the wheels and rear diffuser-style element. Other changes include a high-rise rear spoiler, and chequered flag fog lights on either side of the lower air intake.

The French website believes that toughened up styling will be backed up by more horsepower, with the 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine tipped to deliver around 186kW (250hp).

That's up from today's most powerful Clio RS variant, the RS220 Trophy, which has 162kW (220hp) of power and 260Nm of torque at its disposal. Regular versions of the Clio RS make do with a 147kW/240Nm version of the 1.6-litre motor.

Although, according to Greek website motori.gr, the 'KZ 01' will actually draw power from the Megane RS's 2.0-litre engine.

Watch for more details to surface soon.
