2016 Ram 3500, 2500 recalled by American Special Vehicles

Newly launched importer and conversion company, American Special Vehicles, is recalling 152 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks over concerns a worn brake booster hose could cause the braking and steering systems to fail.

The distributor reports that the high-pressure brake booster may wear over time, if it comes into contact with the sub-frame near the left engine mount.

This could cause the loss of hydraulic assistance to both the brake and steering systems, posing a significant hazard to drivers and other road users.

Ram trucks affected by this recall fall between the VIN range 3C63R3EL1FG684088 to 3C63R3EL1GG220705.

A spokesperson for American Special Vehicles has confirmed with CarAdvice that, of the 152 affected vehicles, just over 60 have been delivered to customers, with the remainder still in dealer stock or pre-delivery.

There has been only one reported incident where the worn hose has caused a failure, although no accidents or injuries occurred.

Owners of the affected Ram vehicles will be contacted by mail, and will be instructed to contact their closest Ram dealer.

Vehicles will be checked to see if they need the hose simply relocated, or if they need to be replaced. Repairs are expected to take no more than 90 minutes.

The distributor reports that it has assessed and taken action on a number of vehicles already.
