Peugeot’s RCZ Coupe at London’s MPH Show
October 15, 2009 by Anthony Crawford
The hugely successful MPH World Tour will feature Peugeot’s stunning RCZ Coupe at the London venue in November this year.
The show features Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond who are set to be upstaged by Peugeot’s latest creation.
Peugeot proved long ago, that you do not need a V8 or V12 monster engine in a car to have fun behind the wheel.
Just think back to the legendary Pininfarina styled Peugeot 205 GTi – with its diminutive 1.6-litre naturally aspirated in-line, 4-cylinder engine, which developed 115 bhp (85kW).
Then came the more powerful version, the 205 GTi 1.9-litre, which was good for 130 bhp (96kW) and considered a tarmac weapon as well as fun to drive.
Peugeot is once again building exciting cars, and the RCZ Coupe proves it, but again, you will not find any large capacity engines under the bonnet, but a 200 bhp (147kW) turbo charged petrol unit. 0-100km/h will take just 7.6 seconds.
Also on the stand at Frankfurt was a super-efficient Hybrid4 variant of the RCZ, producing only 95g CO2/km, and you can bet that Peugeot will have a diesel-powered version available as well.
On show at MPH will be the white RCZ from Frankfurt, with superb 19-inch black alloy wheels, carbon fibre roof and full leather interior, which will go on sales in the UK for 22,000 pounds.
The RCZ will also be released in Australia in 2010, but prices are yet to be confirmed.

Is this going to be rwd?
Nope, its a front driver
FWD??? Thats ridiculous…
Totally. I can’t believe Peugeot are building FWD cars, it’s so against their nature.
Moreover, rear suspension is not independent, just a cheaper torsion bar. Which may be alright for a Clio Sport, but not fr some thing at RCS price level. (Mini has independent rear).
an ugly tt right there
…the ultimate hairdressers car.
Sorry it’s not a commodore or falcon. Typical Austrlian new car buyer!
Open your eyes!
Go and drive a Pug mate, you will be in for a nice suprise. I have driven (and loved) both big banger v8’s and am now on my second pugeot. They are just so rewarding to drvie at normal speeds. (if you really want to go quick, take my advice and buy a bike). I hope this retains some pretence of practicallity, as being stunning to look at doesn’t get you through the week like a hot hatch does.
